Hi! I'm Kota, a frontend engineer based in New York City.

I currently work at Nominal as a frontend software engineer.

I'd consider myself a craftsman in some sense — here's some of my work.

I'm interested in helping people, the environment, and the well-being of the world. Please reach out if you'd like to chat!

NominalNominal product demo

Nominal makes cloud-based telemetry tools for hardware engineers to test and validate their systems.

I did a lot here! I made a bunch of features including multi panel video, timeseries charts, made a complex state machine, and much much more. I also generally spent lots of time making things look pretty.

It was challenging and damn did I learn a lot. Not just technical skills, but management, communication, and how buisnesses are built.

Cody's Chip CatalogueCody's Chip Catalogue home page

Cody's Chip Catalogue is the self-proclaimed *best* potato chip catalogue on the internet.

I built this as a fun project and it gets around ~1000 weekly visitors.

My favorite chips are JaraRico original salad sticks, Zapp's Voodoo chips, and the Calbee Seaweed chips.

C3.ai is a company that builds AI-powered software for businesses.

Here, I was a software engineer working primarily on the platform design system (component library).

We spent some time migrating the codebase from the old material UI library to the new design system which included hand-rolled components and a new theming system.

I made a few new components like data tables, form builders, and bar charts.

kotakun.blog is my personal blog. I write semi-often, mostly about my travels, thoughts, and takes on life. I enjoy doodling when I get to write an entry.

You could read more about the why and how I built it here.

This portfolio is also hosted on this very website!

AirSwap is a RFQ (Request-for-quote) decentralized exchange on the Ethereum blockchain. It's processed over $4 billion in all time volume.

I was one of the first core contributors at the time. We created a brand new React app from the ground up. I built most of the V1 user interface and the transaction history manager.

Working on this project got my foot in the door as a software engineer and gave me the opportunity to collaborate with super talented people from around the world.
