A winter walk through the city of New York is humbling. The cold, relentless breeze pinches your cheeks. Your hands tingle as the cold penetrates through the seams of cotton on your gloves.
We had a “historic” winter storm in NYC this past weekend. Although it was not as nearly as bad as many anticipated, nearly 12 inches of snow accumluated throughout the city.
To a native Californian, it was a sight to behold. To have snow right where you live! It's truly magical.
As Ashley and I walk by Carl Shurz Park the following day after the storm, we stop to have a moment of appreciation.
How special it is we get to live next to a park, where families make memories sledding down make shift slopes. How we get to experience a true (non-californian) winter, but how it makes you appreciate and anticipate the spring. How exceptional these moments are, yet so fragile in many ways.
The winters are cold. But the raw force of nature reminds you of something important. Life moves fast, but take a moment to appreciate the past, the present, and the future.
Stay warm!
